John Erasimus McBrayer was also born in Benton County, Mississippi and went to Indian territory at an early age. He settled the town of Tamaha and accumulated a fortune. He married Virginia Canary (Cherokee Indian). He was killed in 1908 by Judge Beckett in a political row at Stigler, Oklahoma. He had one son, Edward, while in in Stigler, Oklahoma.
